What to expect

Your initial appointment will generally take 1 - 1.5 hours for assessment including some treatment, followed by another 2-3 hours of report writing.

The report will:

form a baseline for your abilities and capacities at that time
include a recommended treatment plan to achieve your Physio goals
make recommendations for referral to other services as required
be the basis for a report to support your NDIS plan review

During the assessment, your Physiotherapist will assess you to identify causes for pain and/ or reduced function and establish goals and strategies with you to inform a treatment plan.

The assessment will include hands on assessment as well as a standardised assessment tool so that progress can be objectively measured across the period of the treatment plan. The plan may also include the need for equipment prescription (e.g. mobility aids), an exercise program and / or referral to other specialists.

By the end of your first appointment, you should have agreed on a treatment plan or approach with your Physiotherapist.

The Physiotherapy report will generally be completed and sent to you within two weeks of your appointment.

You will also receive a schedule of support outlining the proposed treatment plan and the hours involved.
